Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Philanthropy and service play a major role in the life of a ZTA. It is one of the most important... and fun aspects of sorority life. Since adoption as the Fraternity's national philanthropy in 1992, the focus of Breast Cancer research, education, screening and treatment has brought enthusiastic support from Alumnae and collegians, whose mothers, grandmothers, sisters and friends have been touched by the disease.

Gamma Rho Projects

Big Man on Campus Pageant
Each spring, the Gamma Rho chapter sponsors Big Man on Campus, an all male beauty pageant. The contestants compete in an opening number, talent, formal wear, and an on-stage interview. Big Man on Campus is a popular campus event that generates excitement in our community each year. Last years Big Man pageant raised more than $50,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.
Thanks to all our sisters, local businesses, and our ZTA alumnae for all your hard work!

Light up Cater Hall
Every year Zeta lights up many buildings around campus pink for the month of October. We have a ceremony at Cater Hall with many guest speakers and a Balloon Release to in honor of those we have lost to this disease.  Cater Hall is a great way to kick off the month of October.

Auburn "Pink Out" Gymnastics Meet
Every year, the Auburn Gymnastics Team hosts a "Pink Out" meet for Breast Cancer! We partner with them and pass out pink ribbons and fact cards to help spread Breast Cancer Awareness and Education!

Play4Kay Women’s Basketball Game
Kay Yow was a former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 and passed away in 2009 after facing her third battle with the disease.  The Kay Yow Cancer Fund partnered with Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and created a basketball game in her honor.  Many schools celebrate her life in this way and this year, Auburn University’s Women’s Basketball team took part and we were invited to attend to help spread the word on breast cancer education and awareness.

Pink Lemonade for a Cure
This October, the Auburn Zetas passed out pink lemonade and pink ribbons on the concourse to passing students to raise awareness!
